Notice about Layout

The internet is a volatile technical space and changed immensely since the blog started in 2014 and some browser/device combinations now disrupt the layout of this blog. The data sequence is Burial/Memorial Location, followed by the Names. There is a blank space placed after the last name for clarity - but this doesn't work reliably anymore. Regional statistics (2/4)

Looking deeper into the location data, we can observe that the most dangerous locations are ones we’d except – Pas de Calais (including Arras), the Somme, and Flanders (Ypres)
The UK figures include people commemorated on the Naval memorials and might be considered to skew the data, but I have left them as they are.
You might be surprised by Iraq and Turkey’s position in the data.
