Notice about Layout

The internet is a volatile technical space and changed immensely since the blog started in 2014 and some browser/device combinations now disrupt the layout of this blog. The data sequence is Burial/Memorial Location, followed by the Names. There is a blank space placed after the last name for clarity - but this doesn't work reliably anymore. Special post - Driver Thomas Dawson

I keep an eye on the CWGC announcements, and on the day of writing (in 2017) I read of a new addition to the database.

Checking my database of the fallen, he was the 4th Dawson to have died on that day, two in the Pas de Calais, one on the Somme.  They can be found on the other post for today.

from their own website the details of Driver Dawson are:
Rank: Driver
Service No: T2/SR/02821
Date of Death: 10/09/1918
Age: 41
Regiment/Service: Army Service Corps
Grave Reference: Special Memorial.
Cemetery: GREYWELL (ST. MARY) CHURCHYARD
Additional Information: Son of William and Caroline Dawson (nee Moreton), Husband of Amelia Dawson of Greywell, Hants.
N.B.
Recent research has shown that Driver Dawson is buried here. The Commission is in the process of producing a special memorial headstone to commemorate him as it is not possible to mark his actual grave.
