S/9024 Acting Corporal D A Bryant of the 1st Rifles Brigade. He died on the first day of the battle of the Somme 1/7/1916.
His body was never identified and his name appears on the Thiepval memorial on the Somme. He was a sniper in the regiment, and believed to have been on or near Redan Ridge on that day.
On my BBBR pilgrimage earlier this year we visited Thiepval and I laid this cross at the memorial.
100 years on I wanted to contribute something - see my first post for more. Go to https://www.cwgc.org/ or https://livesofthefirstworldwar.org/ for more information on your relative. PLEASE READ THE LAYOUT NOTICE BELOW.
How the blog entries should be read
Notice about Layout
The internet is a volatile technical space and changed immensely since the blog started in 2014 and some browser/device combinations now disrupt the layout of this blog.
The data sequence is Burial/Memorial Location, followed by the Names. There is a blank space placed after the last name for clarity - but this doesn't work reliably anymore.
The image above shows you how to to read entries in this blog
